In 2016, I decided to document our everyday to capture the fleeting details of our family life.

Here are some of my personal favorites. Enjoy!

january

JANUARY 2016: Transitioning from Fort Huachuca, Arizona to Fort Hood, Texas. Temporary Army lodging with a toddler in a studio apartment/hotel room in Killeen, Texas. Visiting family over the Christmas break. Toddler skills include: destroying breakfast like a boss, climbing stairs without fear, and putting stuff where it's not supposed to go. ;)

FEBRUARY 2016: Transitioned from hotel to closing on our first house! Met with old friend from Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Love these large windows in our house for soft natural lighting! Toddler eats yogurt like a boss (spoon is optional).

MARCH 2016: First Easter at Fort Hood, Texas. Parents visited us and helped with yard work. Toddler has no idea what a flip phone is. Toddler skills include eating food and non-food items. Child becomes very attached to soft stuffed animals.

april

APRIL 2016: Learning through play. Testing physical limitations. Conduct photo shoot for Star Wars Day (May the 4th); commence toddler meltdown. Endearing toddler tenderness, toddler curiosity, and toddler cuddles. No fear of heights. Play with your food and water, always. Whataburger black-and-white street photography (because #texasforever.) Need more play dates. :)

MAY 2016: Traveled to Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington for a friend's wedding. (That's one nice thing about being stationed in your home state. :) Met new neighbors who are also a military family with a small child. Experimented with capturing light and focused on how shadows tell a story.

JUNE

JUNE 2016: Our daughter started daycare. The grandparents came down from Fort Worth to watch our toddler while my husband and I spent a weekend away in Austin/Georgetown, Texas. Crossed off summertime bucket list activities like: introduce daughter to the wonders of outside water play, while grilling out and eating watermelon and we went to our first Crawfish Boil in Harker Heights (part of a military change of command get-together).

july

JULY 2016: 4th of July was spent at Crystal Beach, north of Galveston, while our daughter stayed with grandparents in DFW. The daycare experience continues with early morning wake up. Started a new job as a registered nurse and my hours (and sleep) has been all over the place! Expanded toddler's interest in Play Doh. Somewhat successful in teaching her that it's for playing with hands, not eating nor smashing into the carpet. Celebrated National Ice Cream Day with a giant ice cream cone! Taught her some expert ice-cream-eating technique. ;)
